The Townsville Manufacturing Hub under The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (RDMW) partnered with Inspired Education Australia (IEA) to engage the professional development of the educational stakeholders (teachers, head of departments and principals) in the Townsville and Charters Towers region. This delivery, focussing on the schools in the region, established the aim of developing the skills pipeline within the industry of advancing Queensland's manufacturing. The workshops delivered knowledge and skills in design thinking, 9 competitive global technologies, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), manufacturing pathways and how schools can transition to the new age of modern education - Education 4.0. These directly align with several strategies outlined in the department's Queensland's Advanced Manufacturing: 10-Year Road Map & Action Plan.
The result of this delivery reached almost all of the schools in the two regions and received impressive feedback from the educators who attended. The workshops were rated 4.7/5 stars, and all of the teachers 10/10 who participated in the workshops recommended it to other educators. The high ratings given by the teachers who attended the workshop are a clear indication of the success of the workshops in providing valuable insights, industry aligned skills and practical strategies to help educators integrate design thinking, emerging technologies, and align education 4.0 into their teaching practices.
These types of deliveries elevate, support and play a significant role in advancing regional manufacturing capabilities, competitive practice within industry and building a skilled future workforce (students). Showcasing exciting, diverse and technology-rich career pathways, alongside transferrable and innovation skills, these inspired educators can now effectively integrate the knowledge, skills and strategies into their teaching practices. The result? A stronger Queensland economy in manufacturing.
